A new improvement is an addition physically attached to a homestead that does not exist on the homestead prior to the commencement of the work and use of material to physically attach the new improvements to the homestead. The construction of the new improvement does not involve work on existing improvements, the use of material on existing improvements; or physically attaching material to existing improvements.
